About Us

Allegro Music

Richard Priest opened Allegro Music in the city centre of Birmingham in 1984, following the completion of his vocal studies at Birmingham Conservatoire. Since then he has developed the business into one of the country's leading classical music suppliers, which he runs with his wife, Barbara - a trained music librarian. The Birmingham shop not only served the people of the city but offered a mail-order service which grew to reach worldwide destinations.

It was the growth of their mail-order business, and a mutual love of the countryside, that lead to Richard and Barbara moving Allegro Music to the Worcestershire/Herefordshire border in July 2006. From purpose-designed facilities, in a converted hop-drying barn, they now have more time to concentrate on developing the mail-order service to its full potential. A major component of this is their brand new website which was launched in October 2006 and has been updated in October 2008.

Allegro Music supplies sheet music for the majority of classical instruments with a wide selection of titles kept in stock, including material for the ABRSM examinations.

In addition, Allegro Music pays particular attention to the field of organ and choral music and, as well as holding extensive stocks of organ music and cds, Allegro also runs an archive service for out-of-print organ music for Oxford Universtiy Press, Peters Edition and Schott & Co Ltd. We are also proud to offer a large print service for all ABRSM titles as well as handling their archive service. All these archive titles are now available from our website. Allegro is also the UK agency for Organmaster Shoes and for the Incorporated Association of Organists, selling the IAO's merchandise and supproting their promotions and events.
